The Crazy Story of how I went from Absolute Beginner to my first $12,041 Day From Gourmet Popcorn in 42 days...

Hey it's Erin, your teacher 👋

I always hated the idea of working for someone else.

So I went $200,000 in debt to attend a top 10 US business school.

But they never taught me the two most important lessons for business owners.

As a result I played the game on HARD MODE for almost 12 years

I tried vending machines, ATM's, arcade games, then opened 3 hookah lounges, and a chain of float studios, I even launched an ebook.

The truth is MOST business owners work incredibly long days and weeks for very little profit. (And I was no exception)

I chose BAD business models for years and paid the price.

Most businesses take 3-4 years to get profitable

and ALL of your time to stay that way...

After 12 years of working long hours, paying off student debt and building a tiny empire. I lost everything.

A large fire and a bad partnership consumed every penny I had and I was back to square one.

On my 31st birthday, I finally broke down.

It's hard to look back on even now.

I had tried for 12 years to get rich and now I was broke. Totally burnt out and thought my life was over.

After some serious soul searching,

I realized I didn't want money for its own sake.

I wanted the freedom to spend my time how I wanted on things like Health. Relationships. Happiness.

That’s my definition of rich (Total time + location freedom).

I read "The 4-Hour WorkWeek" and in that moment, I made a total commitment. I needed to get free.

No more "re-inventing the wheel".

The book said the right business model is 10- 100x more important than how hard you work.

To get "rich", I needed to find a high-margin business, with low competition, and model what was ALREADY working.

I was in Chicago for a month...

Below my hotel window, I saw a little store with a GIANT line.

“Must be the Grand Opening” I thought.

So I went about my day without another thought. That afternoon I looked out my window and the line was wrapped around the block

It got me curious, so the next day after work, I went over and stood in that very same line for an hour and a half.

I struck up a conversation with the manager and found out that they had a line every day for their little popcorn shop and were making over 4 million a year!

My ears perked up,

I asked him a million questions, then rushed home to do my own research.

That night I devoured EVERYTHING I Could Find ...What I found out about the Gourmet Popcorn Business blew me away.

Garretts Popcorn is now a household name, but their story wasn’t unique.

I found out there were literally dozens of small, mom and pop operators doing this (and making crazy money) across the country.

There were also regional operators like

  • Double Good,
  • PopInsanity,
  • Garretts and
  • Candyland

Each making millions a year.

I was immediately HOOKED....Why?

They had shockingly successful businesses generating tons of revenue (Hell yea for revenue!).

The competition was fragmented and weak. With no national competitors, each area had a few mom and pop shops raking in the serious dough with just average popcorn.

They had incredible freedom-based lifestylesI had talked with a few other “successful entrepreneurs” in other industries who were “successful” in terms of revenue…but their entire lives were spent working and they had no time for anything else (one even bragged that he missed his niece’s birth). What’s the fun in that?

They weren’t “rich” in the traditional sense but they got to do what they wanted every day and go where they please.

That’s my definition of rich (Total time + location freedom).

I knew I HAD to get involved.

We opened Our First Gourmet Popcorn Shop

It took 3 months to renovate an old bakery at Pike Place Market.

We spent hours building the cabinets from scratch.

Detailing the floors and windows.

Practicing recipes and flavors.

Designing our packaging to be perfect.

It literally felt like my calling, and I was so excited.

We worked hard on that first shop and when we finally opened the doors….

Nobody came….

That’s right. Crickets.

I wanted to be a successful popcorn maker with lines around the block.

What had I done wrong?

I had put all of my savings into this shop.

It HAD to work.

I remember the fear of failure was eating me from the inside out, and I didn't know what to do.

So, like a crazy person…I Obsessed

I got in my car and visited dozens of popcorn shops all across the country.

grilled owners to tap into their best tips, secrets, and methods.

Took the best of what I learned and implemented, tweaked, tested and put my own spin on it.

Sort of like a mad scientist (of Popcorn).

It worked.

4 weeks later...Sales Exploded.

I couldn’t believe it. I was so freaking excited as people were paying to eat my delicious popcorn and giving glowing reviews.

Our busiest day was $12,541.

Word spread about our little shop as we perfected our recipes and sales techniques.

Sales were exploding as we applied our winning formula and we started getting inquiries from big corporate customers.

One company ended up ordering over 30,000lbs of Cobb's Caramel corn.

(The video above is it being cooled!)

I finally started to see the bigger picture...

I realized that getting more customers was all about:

✅ Positioning your Popcorn as Premium

(to command a premium price)

✅ Understanding the Science of Selling

(to increase cart size)

✅ Establishing yourself as the perfect solution to someone’s problem.

It literally felt like waving a magic wand, and I was so excited.

What happened next was incredible...

Our main competitor was going bankrupt

A Chain of Gourmet Popcorn Shops with  19 locations in 5 countries.

The Manager divulged that there was a big divorce happening between the owners.

The company was underwater.

That they had been trying to sell for 9 months with NO bites.

3 weeks later, we bought the assets of the $1,000,000+ business for 97% off the asking price and started digging through their emails.

I wanted to know the secrets to how they had built a multi-million dollar popcorn business in the first place....

I read through 10 years of Past Kukuruza Emails

The truth came gushing out like a firehose...

We got it all...the good, the bad and the ugly.

  • The Best Selling flavors
  • The Multi-Million Dollar Pricing Strategy
  • The Exact Sales Scripts
  • Most importantly, the Equipment, Flavors and Sales Techniques that printed millions in revenue every year.

We studied the employee manuals and sales numbers of 16 franchise stores to see what was selling, which upsells worked and how to ALWAYS have a line out the door.

I organized it all into a playbook called "Secrets of Gourmet Popcorn" and gave it to each staff member.

We didn't get lucky, we got OBSESSED.

In the first 30 days, we...

Ran an online sale that earned us 5x what we paid for the company

The changes we made were simple...

  • Raised Kukuruza's prices,
  • Simplified the menu
  • Changed the words we used to sell
  • and started shipping like crazy

It was incredible. It felt like unlocking the Garden of Eden as orders were flying in and we were shipping round the clock.

Did we make plenty of mistakes along the way?

You bet! It wasn’t all rainbows, fuzzy kittens and huge sales days.

BUT…It’s all about BABY STEPS and having a STEP-BY-STEP system to teach you exactly how to be successful with popcorn.

I’m not saying you are going to make millions overnight but it all starts with that first sale right?

My entire business (heck lifechanged as a result of discovering that popcorn shop in Chicago.

And trust me as much as I wish I did, I don’t have any superpower (I’m not even that good at sales…).

It’s just about copying what's already working.

Let me save you 12 years and $200,000...

I went from 0-7 figures in popcorn sales BEFORE I started teaching online courses (VERY important to point that out).

Now I help people build their own popcorn dreams with our Proven Step-by-Step System.

I offer recipes and all the training you need to get started.

But the thing I’m most proud of (besides making the best Brown Butter on the planet) is my thousands of happy customers all over the world.

And that’s the story in a quick nutshell.* Pumped to have you here.

How Can I Help?

Let's Chat on the phone...but first I need some background.

This is essential reading for any serious Popcorn Entrepreneur...

The guide I wish I had when I started... It took me 7 years, dozens of owner interviews, professional recipe development ($85,000), and reading over 5,000 Kukuruza Emails to find the techniques that work.

#1 Choosing the right business model is 10-100x more important than how hard you work.

#2 You NEED to model a SYSTEM that is already working

  • Making your popcorn and packaging Super High Quality (to command a premium price)
  • Understanding the Science of Selling (to increase cart size)
  • Establishing yourself as the perfect solution to someone’s problem.

I see it all the time...almost everyone thinks they are the next great restaurateur,

- Even though they have NO Formal Training. (99% of people actually suck at it)

-They overpay by hundreds of thousands (sometimes millions) when building out a food business

Over the years, we've grown our business 3x from those early days and saved hundreds of thousands using the simple techniques I teach.
